We all know that physical activity is important for healthy growth and development of our children. This also applies to all age groups. Joining a club sport adds a new dimension—it helps develop valuable life skills such as co-operation, discipline, respect and tolerance.

Beckenham 2011/12 Crack a Jack Bowls series.
The season will begin with a registration evening in the club lounge between 6.00pm and 8.00pm on Wednesday 2 November.
Pre Christmas Crack a Jack will be played on 9, 16, 23, and 30 November starting at 6.00pm.
For those who have not played before Crack a Jack is a fun game for non-bowlers who want to try Bowls as a sport.
You can enter as a team of four, or if you enter as an individual you will be placed in a composite team of people like yourself.
You will be provided with club bowls and club members will be in attendance to guide you in learning the basic skills of the game.
You are required to play in flat soled shoes, sandals, jandals or bare feet.
Crack a Jack bowls means new friends, new skills, prizes, raffles, sausage sizzles.
All for only $8.00 per person per evening.
If your team decides to pay for the four evening bowls at the registration evening the price per person is reduced to $7.00 per person per evening.

The BBC greens will both be open this weekend for the first time this season.
On Saturday morning there will be HPP trials and the Accumulated Points
Rollup will starting at 1:30 pm.
On Sunday 12 rinks will be occupied from 08h30 to 11h30 with
Bowls Canterbury Junior Fives coaching and shortly afterwards

On Thursday, 6 September we have the Mixed Triples at 12:30
and the following day, Friday, 7 October we have
the 2-4-2 Pairs also starting at 12:30.
Both tournaments are any mixed combination
The greens are now open for practise: please observe detail on jack/matt cupboard for updated info.
I apologise for the inconvenience but unfortunately our greens will not be opening until Saturday. This means the fours tournament planned for Friday will be cancelled. At this stage we will still be holding the Presidents Cup on Saturday weather permitting. The Met service predicts good weather by then so let’s all hope they are correct.

All Club Championships will be played under 2 life system
The first 2 lives of both the fours and triples will be played on
Saturday, 8 and 15 October respectively.

Correction - Open Triples is 18 ends and not 21 ends as per Hand Book
We will be holding our opening day this Saturday. Dress is MUFTI. The greens will not be open for play on Saturday but will open during the following week depending on the weather.
