I encourage everyone to consider entering in as many of these events as you can.
My plea to everyone is to support the Match Committee, lead by Rosemary Finch, by complying with the conditions of play and refrain from complaining about selections made by Karin Ware, Paul Howley and their teams as they are holding challenging positions in our club.
Finally, I would like to thank all those who smoke for complying with our Non Smoking policy. This is in a trial phase and we may need to review the designated smoking areas but it has been done to enhance our chances of gaining trust funding from an ever diminishing source.

Text Box: I am just returning to normal life after my overseas holiday in the USA and Canada.
I spent an afternoon playing bowls at the Jubilee Park Bowling Club at Abbotsford, a suburb of Vancouver. Their green was not as good as my back lawn and had more bumps than a roller coaster. Consequently, I played mainly short and wide bowls and was happy to finish after one and a half hours as fatigue set in. (any wrong bias John?—Ed.) The high point was that each member got an ice cream and a bouquet of flowers at the end of play! The club did not have a bar but I was made welcome and it illustrated the good fellowship that exists in the wider bowling world.
I would like to acknowledge the leadership of Gerry Hough in my absence. Text Box: With support from the Executive he was able to solve challenging situations and ensure the Club got away to a flying start. Roy Beer is our new Tournament Convenor and with the support of Peter Woodham, Bryan Turnbull, Garth Hames, Rosemary Finch, Jack O’Donnell, Jeanette O’Donnell and Barry Chapman the first tournament was an outstanding success.
I ask everyone to welcome and support our new members by including them in our club events. Please note that Wednesday 26th November is the final day for entering the singles, pairs and colts club competitions. This year sees a significant change to the Mixed Pairs as entries close on Wednesday 17th December and Sunday 25th January has been designated as a day to qualify for post section play on

Our registration night is over and what a great response—20 confirmed teams.

A big thank you to those who have introduced players and teams. Without the players there would be no event.

To all those who have volunteered to work over the next six weeks a big thank you also. These nights are full on and to be able to spread the load I hope will keep everyone happy and provide an enjoyable experience to the players so they will become part of the Beckenham scene. If you have not seen CJB and the fun these people have come along and take a look.
