A superb night out for those who enjoy fine beer.

On Tuesday 20 October at 7.00pm the Club will be hosting a beer tasting evening.

Our guest speaker will be Craig Bowen from Beer NZ Ltd, an organisation that promotes beer - but not just any beer, only the finest beer that the best small breweries in New Zealand produce. (In speaking with Craig we just might be able to sneak in one or two foreign brews as well).

This event will be the exact antithesis of what some of our older members will remember as the “6 O’clock swill” — We will sample at least 12 beers and have a wee quiz as to whether you recognize your favorite tipple, and during the proceedings there will be “edible condiments” available.

During the tasting Craig will guide us through some background of the breweries and the objectives that the brewers will be aiming for.

This is to be a fun night, but with an opportunity to discover some of the more serious aspects of brewing fine beer.

Last Saturday saw a fantastic start to the 93rd season of the club. Great day weather wise and a turn out of 89 members enjoying themselves.

We welcomed 22 new members to the club and acknowledged two of our members as New Zealand representatives (Jan Khan & Adele Greenfield) who will be travelling to Malaysia in early October.

The greens are looking well and we have a new group of coaches to join our three current coaches to assist with all members, especially our new players.

Our 4th year of Crack A Jack Bowls will commence on Wednesday 28 October, the teams are coming in already. If you are a non bowler and interested in joining in please contact us through the details on the site.

We have already hosted two Event Bowls groups on our indoor green and have a booking for early October, if you wish to bring a group along to have some fun and try bowls we are set up to look after you, once again make contact through the site.
