Last weekend saw further success for our club in Centre events. The Women’s Open Tens team had a decisive win over Elmwood in their final with a 4 -0 result.

Mike Abel won his semi final over last years winner Chris Terry in a convincing manner but did not find the same form in the final to finish runner up to Ashley Diamond from Cashmere.

Last night saw another convincing win by our Watson Shield team in the final with a 3 -1 victory over Cashmere. I cannot recall our club winning this trophy, certainly not in recent years. I think those who played in the post section game against Belfast deserve a medal for braving the terrible weather they suffered in winning through that night. Well done to the various players who took part in this event.

This Thursday sees the club acknowledge the contributions to the club over the season by the volunteers of the club along with our sponsors we look forward to a great night.

Following on from the Junior Singles success we saw Mike Abel take out the Junior Champion of Champions for the second year in a row - well done Mike.

Jan Khan won the Regional Pathways Singles in Greymouth.

Our Women’s 10’s team has made the final to be played on the 21 March.

The Men’s Watson Shield team is in the semi final to be played next Tuesday.

Our Manning Cup sides finished 3rd overall with 19 wins out of 24 games.

Yesterday we hosted the Bowls England New Zealand Tour party which resulted in a win to Beckenham 5 games to 1 & 134 points to 104. This was a fantastic afternoon enjoyed by all.

Our Club had a fantastic weekend. In Greymouth we had both our Division 1 & 2 Women’s teams winning through to the New Zealand Finals at Palmerston North - we wish them every success for two NZ titles.

In the Junior Singles we had Vicky Sheard taking out the Women’s title and Mike Abel is currently in the last 4 of the Men to be completed later in the season. We may see a repeat of the Junior double from last season - best of luck Mike.
